It helps if you tell us your iPhone and iOS version, your Apple Watch and watchOS version if it is about the watch, and what you did before the problem. Please never send us your password.
Delete your account
- In SmartGains, open Settings and tap Delete account.
- Check what gets deleted and what stays.
- Tap Delete account, type DELETE and confirm.
This permanently deletes your account and everything in it from our servers: workouts, programs, history and custom exercises. It can't be undone, so export your data first if you want to keep it. Workouts saved to Apple Health stay in the Health app.
Deleting your account does not cancel a Pro subscription. Cancel it first, as below. If you can no longer open the app, write to us from the email address of your account and we will delete it for you.
Restore purchases
Pro follows your SmartGains account, so signing in on a new iPhone is usually enough. If Pro is not there after you reinstall the app or change iPhone:
- Make sure your iPhone is signed in to the App Store with the Apple Account you bought Pro with.
- In SmartGains, open Settings › Subscription and tap Restore purchases.
Restore purchases is also at the bottom of the Pro screen. If it still doesn't work, write to us with the date of the purchase (from Apple's receipt email). Never send us card details.
Manage or cancel your subscription
Subscriptions are managed by Apple. On your iPhone open Settings › your name › Subscriptions, or go to apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. In SmartGains,Settings › Subscription › Manage subscription takes you there. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date; Pro stays on until the end of the period you paid for.
Refunds are handled by Apple: ask for one at reportaproblem.apple.com. The details are in the Terms of Use.
Export your data
You can export everything you made, on Free or Pro: in SmartGains, open Settings and export your data. You get one file (JSON) with your account, workouts and their versions, programs, history and custom exercises.
Questions
Do I need an Apple Watch?
No. Everything works on iPhone. The watch app is free and there for the days you want to leave the phone in your bag.
Does it work without internet?
Yes. Logging, rest, the summary and the review all run on the device. Your workouts sync when you're back online.
Which devices does it run on?
iPhone with iOS 26.1 or later, and Apple Watch with watchOS 26 or later.
What happens if I stop paying for Pro?
Nothing is deleted. Your workouts, history and records stay. Suggestions, charts and version history lock again until you renew.
What is free, and what is Pro?
Free is a complete logger: unlimited workouts and programs, the rest timer, the Apple Watch app, history, records and data export. Pro adds the suggestions after every workout, progress charts and the version history of your workouts. Free includes the suggestions in your first three reviews that have any.
The rest timer doesn't alert me when the phone is locked.
The alert with the phone locked is a notification. Allow notifications for SmartGains in the iPhone's Settings › Notifications, and check that the rest end alert is on in SmartGains › Settings. The countdown also shows on the lock screen and in the Dynamic Island.
My workouts don't show up in Apple Health.
Open the Health app, tap your picture, then Privacy › Apps › SmartGains, and turn on Workouts and Active Energy. Workouts are saved to Health when you finish them.
Can I switch between kg and lb?
Yes, in Settings, at any time. Your weights are converted and read back the same, so nothing is lost when you switch.
Is my data private?
Yes. It is only used to run and improve SmartGains, never sold or shared, and stored in the EU. Health data stays on your devices. See the Privacy Policy.
